It then sends the results to our systems in the form of data packets originating from your network (NOTE: there is absolutely zero data that is sent from us to you so you do not have to open a port in your firewall for our monitoring solution to work). Our software agent reports on the results of the checks that are configured on your systems and transmits those results to us as outbound traffic originating from your network. This could be, for example, a ping check to notify our experts of a branch office that is no longer able to communicate with the corporate office by way of a VPN tunnel. If the tunnel goes down and our agent is no longer able to ping (or “talk” to) the remote office then we are immediately notified of the failure and can respond to it before you know it’s a problem. Monitoring your servers and network devices in this way is a proactive method of providing support to your company. Why wait until a problem happens?
